They're under starters orders!

Hope everyone is settling back into the new season well.

As many of you will be aware next weekend is the Beckenham Half Marathon as well as the first Sunday for many of the junior Kent Cup fixtures, it promises to be a very busy day at the club and your help in the smooth running of the event would be greatly appreciated.

We need more volunteers to act as marshals, help with logistics and to ensure the safety of children, runners and spectators throughout the day. The running order for the day is:

07.30 -- Registration opens for HM and runners start arriving
09.00 -- Half marathon starts
10.00 -- Mini training starts
10.15 -- First runners return
11.30 -- Mini training ends
12.00 -- Kent Cup fixtures kick off for the U14, U16 and Academy teams
14.00 -- Children’s running race

The marathon starts and finishes outside the clubhouse. It sets off around pitches 1 & 2 and heads out the back gate of the car park before meandering around Beckenham before returning through the back gate and on to pitch 1 to the finish line.

This is a particular area where we need help, because cars will be arriving at the same time as runners so we will need marshals in the car park to manage this safely.

If you can spare some time to help on Sunday then please talk to or email George Lawlor or Louise Charlesworth.

We would encourage all parents & players to cycle or walk to the club. If you have to drive then please carshare as parking is going to be very tight. Please respect our neighbours in the surrounding streets by not blocking their drives. Do be careful if you park on Eden Park Avenue. Cars drive quickly, in the middle of the road, don't give way and the sun is low in the sky causing people to be distracted. This has led to a number of accidents in recent months. Another reason to walk or cycle!!

The coffee shop and Kitchen will be open from early on and the Kennedy Bar opens at 11am to help cheer the returning runners on!

Thanks in advance for your help. It promises to be another fantastic day at the club.
