I like Russell Earnshaw, he treads a fine line between genius and nutcase!

When it is time for you to leave this school, leave your job, or even leave this earth, you make sure you have worked hard to make sure it mattered you were even here
- Wes Moore

We are pleased to announce that Russell Earnshaw will hold a coaching evening at the club on Thursday 19 September at 7pm, for all club coaches and interested members.

Rusty came on as a replacement for Bath in the Third "Heineken Cup" final in 97/98 for a memorable match as they became the first English winners after taking the lead for the first time, 80 seconds into second half injury time! He is a former Barbarian who has played for and coached England on the Sevens circuit, Commonwealth Games and the Rugby World Cup.

In recent years, Rusty has helped to formulate the current England coaching pathway. Through his 'Magic Academy' Rusty and John Fletcher (Newcastle Falcons and England Rugby) are at the forefront of efforts to improve minis and youth coaching. Expect to hear how to:

  • Develop the learning environment - to create an exciting space for your players
  • Craft of coaching - explore your coaching skills that will further develop your players
  • #BeatTheGame - coaching tactical awareness through game play and skill training and explore gamification
  • Off-field coaching - how can we support players?
  • Coaching contact skills (U6 - U13) - safely introduce and develop skills in all contact situations
  • Playing from the set piece (U13 - XV-a-side) - what are options both sides of the ball?

We’re very excited to welcome him and thank our Youth Chairman, George Lawlor for enabling us to extend the invitation.
