Four players from Beckenham U18 Girls are called up to the Kent U18 Girls squad

I'm immensely proud of all the Beckenham players who trialled for Kent, and would like to congratulate Funto, Sasha, Charlotte and Viv on their well-deserved selections. Go well girls, we'll be cheering you on!
- Laura Thompson, U18 Girls Head Coach

Following a highly competitive assessment process, four players from Beckenham U18 Girls squad have been selected to represent Kent this season.

The four players are:

  • Funto: lightning fast, she has been playing at wing and fullback this season with an occasional appearance in the centres. One of the team's top scorers, she knows her way to the try line!
  • Sasha: a talented athlete in netball and rugby, who was selected at the end of last season to participate in the Wasps centre of excellence. Often found soaring through the air in the lineout or stepping defenders all over the park.
  • Charlotte: always nailed on for the no.2 shirt, she wins balls against the head at scrum time and is a reliable line-out thrower, as well as a consistent tackler across the field. Her leadership and enthusiasm drive the team forwards.
  • Viv: making the transition from U15 to U18 this season, but with a physicality and a work-rate that are second to none. A highly versatile player who belongs in the back row but can turn her hand to any position in the forwards and has been holding her own at tighthead prop this season.

U18 Girls Head Coach and Director of Women's Rugby, Laura Thompson, said "I'm immensely proud of all the Beckenham players who trialled for Kent, and would like to congratulate Funto, Sasha, Charlotte and Viv on their well-deserved selections. Go well girls, we'll be cheering you on!"

County honours top off a strong season for Beckenham U18 Girls. The only side in the Kent league to win all their pool games, they have finished a strong third overall in the league, separated only from the second placed team by points difference. This performance is a credit to the whole U18 Girls squad, which is full of talented players with a fantastic team ethos.

The Kent U18 Girls squad will be in action on the following dates:
Sunday 20 March: Sussex festival
Sunday 3 April: Surrey festival
Sunday 17 April: Wasps festival
