Our very own academy coach Phil Davis, and supported by Lamarr Sinclair (ex-Academy and playing senior rugby) has coached the team to the final. Phil says “ the last few days together have definitely seen a big step up as they only had 4 days together as a squad before the event.”. USA South are mostly college players vying to be professional.

A bit about Ben Hatfield, BRFC Youth Male Volunteer of 2022

Ben has been playing rugby at Beckenham for just 3 years. He has grown in stature, composure and maturity in that time. New to rugby he had to work to adjust to the unique attitude players must embrace when dealing with a referee. He now has the patience of a saint and a cheeky style that endears him to refs. Every one is his favourite!

Ben has embraced rugby and now helps coach the U14s (U15s next season).

The opportunity to work with the Jamaica squad came this year and was made possible by Phil Davies who volunteered to coach the squad. While the UK based lads had a few sessions together the squad as whole only came together four days before the tournament. To be fair this showed in their first game against USA South. However the team has learned about each other in a fiery cauldron. While they have lost players they will be stronger when the play the final against USA South.
