It is with sadness that we announce the recent passing of Gwynfor Hood. Gwyn was a legendary 1XV captain, Colts coach, Senior Men’s coach, and longtime member of our club. Calm and measured, he mentored many players over the years and was a much loved friend to many.

Gwyn was a great role model at the club, with his love and passion for BRFC and all things rugby (and Welsh!). The Colts of 1981 remember his impact fondly “Gwyn spent time with us, on and off the field, imparting his knowledge, training ethic and the importance of teamwork. We owe Gwyn a huge debt of gratitude, he helped turn us from a group of unfocused individuals with very average talent to a tightly knit driven and determined team that would never take a backward step and would compete, and beat, whoever we played in our final year. Thank you Gwyn you genuinely changed lives.”

The club sends our thoughts and deepest condolences to Wally, Bill, Rhiannon and family. We encourage any members to share their fondest memories of Gwyn. The funeral will be at 2pm at Beckenham crematorium on Fri 23rd Oct, and then the rugby clubhouse after.
