Beckenham RFC are delighted to confirm they retain the coaching services of Dan Brown, Lovejoy Chawatama, Matt Hankin and Jamie Pinn for the 2021/22 season.

Dan Brown continues as Head Coach in his sixth season at the club. Dan is a RFU Level 3 coach and comments; ‘It is fantastic to be able to confirm that Lovejoy, Matt and Jamie are on-board for next season. Both Lovejoy and Matt have recent experience of playing at the highest level and their knowledge and expertise will be of huge benefit to all players in the senior squad. They both care deeply about player development, ensuring that all squad members are given the opportunity to be the best they can be. Jamie knows the club inside out and his understanding of the demands of the community game is second to none. It really is an exciting time to be a player at Beckenham.’

In addition to his role as forwards coach, Lovejoy will also oversee the scrum, physical conditioning and contact skills of the senior squad. A product of the Beckenham RFC player pathway, Lovejoy joined London Irish from London Welsh in 2017, since making over 50 appearances for the Exiles. Lovejoy will continue to balance his role at Beckenham whilst playing for London Irish and the 2017 Zimbabwe Sports Personality of the year looks forward to leading what is a very promising Beckenham pack.

Matt Hankin is another product of the Beckenham Youth Section and returns to the club following a professional career with Saracens which was unfortunately cut short by injury. As flanker Matt made 13 appearances for the North London club, alongside winning four England U20 caps, as the side won the U20’s World Cup in 2013. Matt has spent the past 12 months completing his teacher training and will have overall responsibility for the lineout, defence and breakdown during the 2021/22 season.

Jamie Pinn continues in his role as lead coach for the 2nd XV. Jamie re-joined the coaching staff during the 2019/20 season following a successful playing career at the club, making an immediate impact. Well respected by his fellow coaches and players alike, Jamie oversaw the successful transition of a number of players from the 2nd XV to the 1st XV. His knowledgeable and calm approach ensures that all players are guided and supported as they strive to improve. Jamie will work closely with Academy Head Coach, Phil Davies to ensure there is a seamless progression for all academy players into the senior squad.
