Jerry Pickers wins prestigious Award

Beckenham’s own Jerry Pickers was recognised on a prestigious stage last weekend, as he attended Allianz Stadium as a guest of Kent Rugby Executive Committee Chairman Roger Clarke.

Currently serving as Beckenham’s disciplinary officer, Jerry received the Kent Rugby nomination for the RFU President’s Value The Volunteer Outstanding Contribution Award - a fitting acknowledgement for someone who embodies the true spirit of a clubman.

Over the years, Jerry has taken on multiple roles within the club, consistently giving his time and energy to support its growth both on and off the pitch. Jerry has held numerous committee roles, championed youth rugby, and mentored players. Now, as disciplinary officer, he has helped build solid foundations for the club by setting clear standards of behaviour and showing the value of discipline and inclusion.

As part of his award and recognition, Jerry was invited to Allianz Stadium Twickenham, where he was warmly hosted and given the opportunity to meet key figures in the game, including Deborah Griffin President of the Rugby Football Union, and former England Red Rose’s Captain Zoe Stratford.

It was a well-deserved moment of recognition for Jerry, whose dedication and commitment continue to make a lasting impact at Beckenham, proof that the heartbeat of grassroots clubs likes ours are people like Jerry who give so much behind the scenes.

Thank you to all of our club volunteers, and a big congratulations to Jerry!
