The Jim Kennedy Memorial Trophy is a hand cut Waterford Crystal bowl that was engraved and donated to Beckenham RFC by the Kennedy family. It was commissioned in memory of Jim who was a great clubman and supporter of Medway. It is played for between the 1st XV men’s teams at their league fixture, home and away.
On Saturday the 30th November our teams meet again, at home at Balmoral.
Last season in Nov we claimed the trophy in a 31-24 win away at Medway’s ground. Stealing the game in the last few minutes of play! Later in the season the trophy went back to Medway, when they beat us on the return leg.
We look forward to a big exciting game this Saturday, played of course in the spirit of rugby, as well as a hearty lunch (if not sold out lunch!), and as usual our larger than life sideline support.
We sit in joint second position in the league with Medway, as we look forwarded to welcoming Medway and their officials for what promises to be a fantastic day.
