The season is almost upon us and everyone is returning to work and school. As a community rugby club all the money that we raise goes back into the club.
This season we are going to be doing more events 'in house' and supporting local charities (the first of these is the Beckenham Half Marathon - details below), so we thought we might ask for a little help! Some positions are paid (although we can only employ individuals who are over 17) and most would suit volunteers. You, or a friend, might have a few hours to spare and fancy meeting some friendly folk in the process. Perhaps you know of some teenagers doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme? Have a look at the range of options we have and please email Louise Charlesworth if you are interested.
The Beckenham Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 26th. Since it started (by club members) we have supported this amazing event that raises money for Action Against Cancer. All of us will know someone who has been impacted by Cancer and it is crucial that we support the scientific research that will beat this terrible disease.
The organiser, Cheryl Whitehead, would love to have volunteers on the day (manning the reception table, helping with logistics and water around the route). If you can spare a few hours, please do contact her and offer your help.
Separately, she also needs donations in order to fund the small bottles of water that we give out to the runners. Tesco has donated £100, but with 500 runners, we need a bit more than that. Email Cheryl at beckenhamhalfmarathon@gmail.com
