Beckenham U17’s 30 Dover U17’s 0 Sunday 27th November 2011

A bright and sunny Sunday saw Beckenham U17’s Academy take on Dover in the Kent League.
Dover made a good start and were strong in the pack and soon put Beckenham under pressure in the ruck and maul, Beckenham needed better discipline in the loose but with all the pressure Dover could not cross the Beckenham tryline.
After 10 minutes Beckenham put the ball through the hands Rory Palmer played Mc Carthy onto Parham who played onto Liam Johnson and the speed king out paced the Dover defence to cross the scoreline. Beckenham ahead 5-0.
From the restart Beckenham were deemed to be holding on in the ruck and with the forwards gobbing off Becks were marched back another 10 metres. Dover missed their easy penalty chance from just inside the 22 and directly in front of the posts. Beckenham were let off and Dover never really recovered.
After 20 minutes Mc Carthy kicks clear from his own 22. Parham gives chase and is rewarded to collect from a lucky bounce and skips passed the Dover full back to score under the posts. 10-0.
Parham converts. 12-0
After being seen strutting his funky stuff at the local night club the night before referee
Bob Mc Dowell pulls his hamstring and has to be replaced by line judge Richard Thorogood.
Super Ref Thorogood is well accustomed to cutting a shape and late nights and had no worries of pulling a hamstring, although some say he has no worries of pulling anything.
The game carried on and against the head skipper James Lockwood wins lineout ball and through the hands sees Speedy Gonzalez Liam Johnson cross the tryline again. No conversion.
Beckenham lead 17-0.
Further Beckenham pressure sees Shaq Palmer caught coming back inside instead of taking on the Dover Full Back on the outside .Dover pinned for not rolling away and Parham scores the penalty from directly in front of the posts. 20-0. Half Time

Early second half pressure sees Dover under the cosh and a serious injury to a Dover player means the game has to moved onto the second team pitch so the arriving ambulance can deal with injury.
While moving pitches it is noticed that certain Academy selections have become complacent and slacking in their match responsibilities. It was clear for all to see that Keeley and Tony Mc Carthy have been neglecting their duties as custodians of the valuables bag and Keeley clearly seems to prefer her role as the team snapper (NO.. SNAPPER is the correct term)..... Camera Bag not Valuables Bag ............. Paparazzi not Caretaker.
Dover try to get back into the game but Beckenham still in the ascendancy. The change of pitch seems to affect Beckenham and play becomes a little sloppy. It takes a while for the replacements to find their feet in the game but still Dover are unable to score.
Moody plays Ebanks- Johnson-Molloy- Parham grubber kicks ahead into Dover 22. Dover lineout.
Once again Beckenham win lineout against the head and penalty awarded. Parham scores 23-0.
With only minutes remaining Dover start to lose discipline and players front up to each other.
Super Ref sorts out the melee and Scott Mc Manus is sin binned.
The closing moments see Parham score and convert for final score 30-0. A bonus point win.
Boole and Caddy, happy but not content. Big game coming up. We need to be more aware.
