Beckenham 4’s travelled to Orpington to take on their 1st XV for our final match of the year. The conditions were terrible but we raced to a 21-0 lead in the first 15 mins. Orpington fought back scoring some good tries after a couple of lapses in concentration in the Beckenham defence.

Orpington caught up with us and the scores were close but Conar Duffy’s boot was the difference with some brilliant place kicking which maintained our lead.

The second half saw Beckenham soak up some more pressure with some good defence and some good exit’s from our 22 and we executed some good counter attacking rugby and started to stretch away with some good scores. The bench made a real difference with some fresh legs coming on to close out the game.

The match finished 68-36 and completed a bonus point win to get us back on track going into the new year.

There were notable performances from Paul Standell, Conar Duffy, Tom Robson, Rhys Roberts , Luke Jones and Tin.

Man of the match this week is Neal Thornton for turning out with an epic Christmas party hangover and putting in a 80 minute shift in the front row and an impactful performance.

We go again at home to Swanley on 9th January at Balmoral Avenue.
