A great week end for rugby

Hi Everyone, sorry for the delay on this news letter,

What a great weekends’ rugby for all of us,

And it started on Saturday at Old Es match,

What a great afternoon it was for rugby, cold, muddy, and not a hot drink in site, once the boys had warmed up and Ewan had tide his boots for the whole of warm up (I’m keeping an eye on youJ)

The match got under way. With Captain “Oliver” leading them out, for four 1/4s of 8 mins each way with a couple of mins at half time. Format worked to try and keep them going, what a display by all the boys who made it. After going one try down to start with, we ramped up the pressure at the break downs to win the ball back with Tom running the 1st try home. With a bit of to and fro, we continued to keep the pressure on the Old E’s with some very hard work coming from Shay, Liam and James to keep their forward pack under control. All the boys did there bit in a fantastic team performance with Archie and Lorcan scoring and Shay Scoring 2 (the last one leaving him dazed from the tackle he took while diving across the line) With a near miss from Ewan just being tackled into touch, with a return by Freddie J who lacked game time going into this match but made up for it with just terrier like play at times well done great to see you back, with great replacements like Todd and Freddy S, Finn who took a crunching tackle in the 1st quarter and Jake who I sore making some great tackles which he picked himself up wiped away mud and kept going, the game finally finished on a 5 to 4 win for us, then onto the hot dog eating in the club house which we may have won that as well !!! as some of the boys were tucking away a few more than they should have!! ( just think in a few years time that behaviour could be pints!! “OH MY GOD”) Well done boys you did the club proud we kept up our end for the day and now onto the 1st xv’s game, thumped is about all you can say, they tried hard, worked hard but were beaten by a well drilled Old E’s pack

.

And onto Sundays training,

After the warm up all the boys got stuck into the drills, practicing their rucking and tackling its great to see some of the boys who hadn’t been there for awhile back and trying hard. Over in the tackling tunnel drill it was fun to watch Rob being tackled by the boys and when I took over they matched me up with Ewan, boy did that hurt!

During the game play section they all worked hard with Jody encouraging them to ruck over which Shay looked like he was enjoying! But Charlie was singled out for this weeks lip stick award kindly carried out by Jago’s mum brighter colour needed!!

After all his hard work in the drills and during the game play Jake was a well deserved winner of “ Man of the Match” well done keep it up.
