The West Kent Divas U15 girls had another impressive performance and contiued their excellent development with a 41 points to 12 victory over Alyesford.

On a wet and windy day, more suited wallowing in the mud, the West Kent Divas Divas entertained Aylesford. Injuries and possibly the weather reduced numbers playing 10 v 9 initially with both teams missing several players. The reduced numbers, required some adjustment of playing position but the girls adjusted well.

The first play of the game saw Aylesford run the ball at WKD, set up a perfect maul and distribute the ball wide, past the WKD rushing defence and run in a score. The WKD players did not panic and learned from this and when the move was repeated, Alice and or Morgan chased down the winger while the other cover defenders scrambled across to complete the tackles.

Competition for the ball at the break down was fierce, with Aylesford having the better of several exchanges, where WKD did not commit enough players to the break down. WKD did however dominate possession often stealing the ball at break downs and setting up a good platform from which Erin was able to distribute to support runners, both forwards and backs.

WKD first try followed concerted pressure where the point of attack continued to change, till eventually Alice found a gap and scored.

Following the try Aylesford pressed hard again and determined defence held the line intact, forcing the turnover and, from deep, good interplay allowed WKD to run the ball the full length of the field for Alice to score again.

This was followed shortly by another team effort, releasing Morgan who ran in the 3rd from 40m.

The second 1/2 saw Aylesford lose a couple of players.Olivia and Cerys sportingly played for Aylesford. The WKD were now finding much more space and Ceri was able to move the back line effectively, setting up further tries for Morgan, opportunities for Fredi and Franchesca, but also crossing for 2 tries herself. The final score was by Hannah, who had run hard, tackled superbly and setup the ball several times for the team. On this occasion, she brushed by the tackles, looked for support, and then ran the full 60m for her try.

The performance was an excellent team effort. Well done, and many thanks, to all who played and to Aylesford for bringing their girls over to play.
