Medway 13 girls Festival
On Sunday 28th April, WKD attended the Medway U13 girls festival. A reduced squad of 9 travelled to the festival and they were supported by 3 U15 girls who travelled to support their team mates.
The Festival was a new initiative by Medway and the event was well supported by 6 teams.
In the group stage WKD played Medway first, followed by Pulborough. Despite slow starts on both games, once WKD got there hand on the ball, their swift movement and accurate off loading resulted in trys.
In all games WKD found the Refereeās much more particular than at previous tournaments, and on occasion proved challenging, but it was all good experience for the players and coaches.
The final was played against Ashford, who had visited Beckenham 3 month earlier. The first minute saw Ashford, keeping the ball in contact and eventually finding a gap to score the first try. This was swiftly countered by WKD, who had to work quite hard in the first half, before they took control of the match and eventually ran out comfortable winners 6 trys to 3.
During the presentation, there was a Fair play award presented to Freddie Pearson.
