WKD put in a very good team performance to win 57 to 5 against Medway

The area finals of the National cup at U15, were held at Blackheath on Sunday 8th March 2015.

The Starting team, was Olivia, Francesca, Amilie, Fiona T, Luana, Ella, Erin, Ceri, Ellie, Sophie, Tatum, Destiny, Megan, with Subs, Bobbies Lara, Maddie, Rhiannon and Sammy.

As March arrives the sun shone and the firm pitch was great news for WKD. Within the first minute a scrum was awarded to WKD and the ball was immediately passed along the back line to allow Sophie to open the scoring. The second try, followed a little bit of interplay, near the break down, before the ball was popped to Erin, running a direct line, who then ran near 50m to score a great solo effort.

Medway competed well and required WKD to work in defence, but on every occasion possession was secured, WKD looked to move the ball wide, to use the full width of the pitch and allowed WKD to complete the ½ with a 26 to 0 lead.

Changes at ½ time saw Maddie and Lara come on as wings, with Sammy at hooker, while Rhiannon had taken over from Olivia, at prop.

In the second ½, playing up hill, WKD, continued to play their game, using the ball effectively.

During the game, there were a number of notable performances.

In defence Ceri actioned a number of turnovers, while in attack linked well with Elli, who made sure the back line moved the ball wide and forward with pace. Megan, ran in a few long rang trys, leaving the defence standing, but also selflessly, passed one to Ella, who had chased the ball 50m to be there in support.

In the forwards there were solid performances from all, but the most prominent today was Fiona T, Rucking and mauling effectively , but overall all forwards deserve a special mention as the Medway pack looked very solid and well drilled.

The final play of the game saw a cheeky, drop goal, the first for WKD, scored by Ellie

Weldone to all, another great performance and one you should all be proud of.
