Pitch up and Play Dartfordians Rugby Club

After 6 weeks of training, 4 Girls for Beckenham rugby club attended Dartfordians Pitch up and play event. The event, exceptionally well run was support by over 100 girls. The U15 girls joined players from Medway and Dartfordian for games. Kayley Palmer, playing her first game started at Hooker and in the first scrum she successfully hooked the hall back for her team, (A natural). In open play her commitment was without question or fear, as she looked to tackle the largest player of the opposition. While technique was not perfect, the net result was a success, even if it did require help from her team mates. Sarah Kurtellie playing 2nd row in her first game and hovered around the break down looking for an opportunities to run with the ball. Her initial forays were stopped but she always looked to present the ball well to retain possession. Eventually though, some space opened up and Zarah was able to glide past a number of defenders to score her maiden try. A very fine effort.
Kim Harris and Ayla Kurtellie joined the beginners under 13 group and played a series of touch rugby games, moving well into space and showing great handling skills.
So next week we will be back at Beckenham training and we want to see more Girls taking up the opportunity. We have made contact with a number of schools and Girl guide groups, to put up posters for us and that we are very grateful. I would like to ask all who have done so to take photos of any posters displayed and share those photos with the group and to post on as many face book or other social media pages as possible.
