Beckenham U15 Girls won their first cup game of the season, scoring 48 points to 5 in a powerful display against a spirited Dartfordians side. They were joined by Old Alleynians U15 Girls as the two clubs continued their successful partnership from last season to kick off their National Cup campaign.

Playing Dartfordians for the second time in as many weeks, Beckenham were well aware of their opponents' prowess in the contact area and immediately showed they had learned from this. On a day that saw both brilliant sunshine and pouring rain, Beckenham looked to play a fast, offloading game, with success as mixed as the weather. However despite several turnovers of possession, Beckenham remained on the front foot, applying pressure and running hard in both attack and defence.

First half tries came from Funto, Abby B and Ruby, as the girls settled into their patterns. In the second half, Dartfordians scored their sole try in a well-worked team effort, pressing Beckenham hard for several phases on their own line before crossing the whitewash. Funto added two more tries to her tally to complete her hat trick, with additional tries from Mia, Abby B and Abby K, who also added four successful conversions to the scoreline.

The play of the match came early in the second half, following the Darts try. Beckenham gave a strong chase from the kick off and quickly won back possession, working the ball wide to the right wing who made it as far as the Darts 22 before she was tackled. The forwards worked well, securing possession and working through several phases to put pressure on defence, before the ball came wide to the left wing who ran into the space created and scored unopposed - a textbook move, executed brilliantly by the whole team. A great team effort throughout and plenty to build on!
