Well done to the 16 brave lads who turned up for training today.
Conditions were the toughest we've seen this season so please continue to make sure the players have the right number of layers on. We added a couple of stretch variations into the warmup mix and that certainly sorted the men from the boys as Liam and I found out!
Rugby netball needed a bit more intervention this week so the players could work out why the green team kept getting turned over. It took a while to sink in, but they persevered. We moved into Bulldog with ball in hand. The learning points here were to keep two hands on the ball at all times to help ball retention while running and to see how they could use the ball to help evade tacklers. Generally went well though a few balls were dropped when running one handed.
The boys then progressed to a passing drill between them and a partner. Liam and I walked among them showing the best way to hold and pass a ball, which bit of the body to aim at and how to catch the ball. That progressed to a tag game with some great tries scored by both teams.
Progress and fun. Exactly what we want to see.
